The Three Little Pigs

Check out the house construction going on here!  We've got straw, sticks and bricks.   Doesn't really matter if you line the sticks up or just toss them on there, they aren't going to save that little pig from the big, bad wolf!

Same toys, different purposes

Blocks are fun at any age!  It is interesting to see how different ages use the same toys in different ways.  The kids on the left are in our younger class and they are all about lining the blocks up to make a "huge road."  They will often go all the way down the hallway!  The kids on the right are in our older class.  They tend to go for height and prefer to make structures.  On this day, they brought over the stuffed animals are were building homes for them.  Either way, both classes are learning to cooperate and negotiate towards a common goal!

Variety is important

Having choices is one of the exciting parts of preschool!  Every day is different.  The toys are different, the art projects are different, the songs and activities are different - but there is comfort in the environment.  We may change what we do every day, but we are consistent in how and why we do things.  The kids know what to expect from us which makes them feel safe - safe to explore new options and safe to try new things.  These are the things that make preschool fun and all the while the kids are growing and learning and stretching their wings!

Playdough fun

This little cutie is cooking up a whole bakery of items - cookies, muffins, pizza dough...all kinds of yummy treats!  Playdough is a wonderful thing.  Not only does it provide tons of fun, it stretches the imagination, increases hand and finger strength and requires cooperation and sharing.  Even the teachers love to sit down with the kids and play with the playdough!

Rescue the Bears!

Last week was Bear Week in the Threes Class.  Since these guys love to rescue things - just like a fireman or policeman or super heroes - we decided we'd better rescue these poor bears!  The little bears somehow managed to get themselves frozen into blocks of ice.  Thankfully these two guys helped rescue them with droppers full of warm water!  Every time a bear was set free, they got so excited!  We lined the rescued bears up along the shelf and counted them.  Thank goodness for their perseverance. :)

Brought to you by the letter "D"

Every Tuesday in the Pre-k class is Sharing Day.  Sometimes the kids get to choose what to bring and sometimes the calendar lists a category.  On this Tuesday, the kids were to bring something that starts with the Letter 'D' since it was 'D' week. We had dogs, dinosaurs and a Pokémon card with a 'D' name. When we went to play in the Big Room, a few of the kids decided to build houses for their critters.  Apparently even mini, stuffed dinosaurs need a lot of room! :)
