Being a little bit older has its perks---four year olds get
another day to play! Science projects, sharing, and cooking all add to the
curriculum. Year-long notebook projects
are a fun record of your child’s growth, and a whole new level of fun is
reached with games, letters and numbers. Several field trips are also added to
the calendar.
Four year olds focus on getting ready for kindergarten! Continuing
to learn classroom routines and self-help skills make a big difference in
kindergarten readiness. Basic building blocks of academic learning are always
available in our classroom: colors, shapes, numbers, letters, words, books,
puzzles, building toys, manipulative toys. All of these things contribute to
pre-reading skills, math readiness, and writing concepts and abilities, and are
used in developmentally appropriate situations to encourage enjoyment of
learning.
